About

Guardianship Attorney Rich Magee Rich received his B.A. from Oberlin College and J.D. from Duke University School of Law.  He has lived in Bucks County and practiced law in Doylestown since 1984.  Beginning in 2003 Rich began serving as a guardian for adult individuals adjudicated incapacitated in Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia counties.  These Court appointments led to Rich’s enthusiasm for guardianship work and his dedication to legal representation of individuals, nursing homes and hospitals in over 300 emergency and permanent guardianship cases, primarily in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

His practice also includes representing guardians in post-appointment matters such as petitions for allowance, petitions to sell real estate, and mandatory Annual Reports of Guardians of the Person and of the Estate of incapacitated persons.  Rich has been appointed by the Bucks County Orphans’ Court Division to represent alleged incapacitated persons in guardianship matters and has presented continuing legal education seminars sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute regarding emergency (temporary) and plenary (permanent) guardianship practice and procedure.

In addition to his guardianship work, Rich’s practice emphasizes estate planning and estate administration.  He is experienced with drafting wills, powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney and healthcare directives (living wills); and in representing personal representatives of decedents' estates, and assisting administrators and executors in meeting their fiduciary duties.  Rich’s work with guardianship matters and estate administration includes experience with litigation in the Orphans’ Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas.

Rich’s community work includes legal representation on behalf of the Plumstead Township Zoning Hearing Board and the Doylestown Township Municipal Authority serving as Solicitor for each entity for over a decade.  He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Bucks County Bar Association.

Cynthia Magee is the sole legal assistant in the practice, with over eighteen years of experience in guardianship matters, estate planning and estate administration. She formerly was employed by the County of Bucks in Orphans’ Court Division and the Register of Wills.
